![]() I've seen the tuts here on how to replace the vents but the part with disconnecting them bothers me. Fortunately, in most cases, they're near the vents that are located around the edges of your case these slats let cool air in and hot air out. But before you can clean them, you'll have to find them. I guess I will have to figure out how to take that one out, and after that how to disconnect the fans from the motherboard, remove them and use compressed air to clean them. An occasional cleaning will keep your laptop fans spinning effectively for years. I also tried using the larger screwdriver but it didn't work - seems that I managed to screw up the screw head with the first one. I didn't take a picture after cleaning when everything was still dissasembled, but here's one after I cleaned it up. We have 2 cats and vacuuming just makes things worse - so mostly I damp clean the floors and other things around the house to avoid bringing the dust & cats' hairs up in the air. Actually I don't vacuum the house a lot (I live in a flat and there's not much dust around, as I can see on the furniture). The machine was last opened early in 2009 when the 1st owner upgraded RAM and never again after that.
